This style of knocker is as popular in Dublin as the lion’s head motif ones are in Europe. While the lion represent strength and help ward off evil, Anna Livia symbolises the life and prosperity of Dublin. The knocker is made in Victorian style, modeled on mid to late 19th century architectural style. The copper and brass alloy from which the knocker is made mean that it is hardy and wear resistant, even for a piece which will spend its whole life outside.
