What we do
Architectural Classics is a contemporary-luxe door furniture supermarket. We do not manufacture any door handles, however we use our knowledge, experience and buying power to put together what we regard as one of the best collections of door furniture on the web.
We are focused on quality, style and individuality, and have sourced thousands of door knobs, knockers, locks and accessories that give a home a unique, tactile character. We do not compromise on quality - we look for the finest weight, most meticulously finished and often hand-crafted pieces. We then use our contacts and buying power to allow us to provide you the excellent prices you see on site, rather than lower-quality products.
We only work with suppliers with an established reputation for quality craftsmanship. We stay in close contact with all of our trading partners, to ensure that our customers are never taken by surprise ... except by the luxurious, regal quality of your products.
Quality is also of the utmost importance in our site architecture and navigation. We use top security partners and state-of-the-art technological infrastructure, and constantly review our design and navigation to make shopping an easy and enjoyable process for you.
Our mission
To offer the largest selection of quality decorative door furniture in the world, helping our customers make their homes elegant and unique.
Architectural Classics Staff Culture
While not all of our staff come from within the hardware, antiques or architecture industries, each member is expert in their field. We do not compromise on product quality - similarly, all of our staff have the skills, knowledge and experience to help the business run as smoothly as possible. Everyone that works for us must have an innate flair for accommodating, gold-standard customer service; we believe that industry knowledge can be learned on the job.
We have been supplying door furniture for the last 12 years and during that time we have learnt a lot - about quality, materials, styles, finishes and many other aspects of door hardware. Since 1996 we have traded online, and our commitment to quality in every aspect of business has carried us to the top of the online door furniture field. Our headquarters is in Dublin, a city of history, great pubs and friendly people.
History
Our shop has its roots in the antique business. In the 1980s, Niall McDonagh was indulging his passion for items that tell the story of the ages, sifting through antique fairs all over Ireland. He established Architectural Salvage which, owing to an economic boom in Ireland, soon became the biggest operator in the Irish market. Over the years, Niall has increased his international buying network, expanded his management team and developed an overseas presence, building a major European operation that has become the market leader in a number of important sectors.
Over 15 years had passed sine the company was founded, and the dotcom revolution had begun. While his passion lay in the items of the past, Niall was quick to embrace the methods of the future, and initiated the online version of Architectural Salvage. Four years later, Architectual Salvage became Architectural Classics, owing to an overwhelming customer demand for pieces that could be easily matched and coordinated through to the home, and also which could be shipped worldwide at reasonable rates. While many of our pieces pay homage to the styles and motifs of the past, the shop now embraces modern classics also. We have an entire range of contemporary door furniture, and have shown the same fondness for future ideas in our product selection here, that led us to first begin trading online.
In the early part of this century we saw tough times, with the bursting of the e-business bubble. However, our commitment to a niche market and determination not to compromise on quality allowed us to stay in business, and even thrive and prosper. In late 2005, with new vision, ideas and staff on board, the company growth accelerated and the sales have doubled every year since then.
The company is the only one in its sector recognized by the Irish Antique Dealers Association and the International Confederation of Antique Dealers (CINOA).
