Spring Home and Garden Show

Spring Home and Garden Show | Dublin 2007So dedicted to our work, and involved in the world of antiques are we here at Architectural Classics, that how do you think we spent most of our St Patrick’s Day? Not making ourselves green with imbibing too much Guinness; instead, like St Patrick did, we spent it converting those unfamiliar with the joys of antique fittings into the ranks of the enlightened! In fact we spent a total of five days at the Spring Home and Garden Fair in Dublin, in wonderful company showcasing the best new and established products for your home and garden. It was a great opportunity to show off all the things which previously only we could enjoy, back at the office, before somebody bought them. We brought a small truckload full of stock from our door furniture and lighting range, including a large range of switches.

In the door furniture range, we were able to give people the opportunity to see in person our:
• Polished brass
• Antique brass
• Ormolu
• Nickel, and
• Chrome
Finishes, on doorknobs, finger plates, escutcheons, etc. Crystal often looks far too classy to match the conduct of many on St Pat’s Day (!), but our crystal door knobs were extremely popular, as were the matching crystal keyhole covers, which create a gorgeous delicate finish for your doors.

Spring Home and Garden Show | Dublin 2007Our time at the show also covered St Practice day, a national day of getting in practice for the sturdy stomach that will be required the next night for the celebrations! On this day, and others, there was a lot of interest in our selection of light switches. These are often hard to find in anything other than boring, hard-to-keep-clean white. We showed a great range of our ceramic base switches in white or brown, our jelly-mould ribbed finish switches in a variety of materials, and also the retro-style Bakelite switches, for whatever look you have at home. As always, we are about the details, and have sourced some great telephone points, tv points, plug sockets and pulley light switches for you to great a stylish and consistent atmosphere in your home.Spring Home and Garden Show | Dublin 2007

There was also a very out of character period on St Pat’s day, when the Irish and Italian rugby teams played, and most of the Spring Home and garden show was shouting like punters down at their local for a few pints … however we soon got back to business, and by the last day it had become clear that our table lamps, of which there is the widest range, are the piece which everybody loves to use to express a bit of personality in their home. This was actually the first time we have used the table lamps in a display, and they got a lot of comments!

A good time was had by all at the show … missing out on the festivities for part of the day was more than made up for by the enthusiastic response to our products, and getting to talk about our passion for classic antiques to anyone who would listen!
