You know, we used to think we sold every sort of door accessory imaginable. Most people just have a simple door knob or lever handle on their door, right? Well, we have door knockers, finger plates, escutcheons, espagnolettes … we thought that if you named it, we’d have it.
Well, we were wrong (sob! sob sob!).
We have found another sort of really striking doorway accent, available on Amazon in Germany. They are called indoor frames … or at least they are in German … made by a company called Eigengold. Truly, as the company describes it, “The meaning of in - door now becomes a completely new sense”. Yes! Quite
However, we love them for their products, not the quality of their automatic translation.
A picture is worth a thousand words, really - these gorgeous decorations are made from plexiglass, and as far as our research can discern, are available in the beautiful deep blood red you see on the site, as well as a chic grey colour. This is incidentally called ‘black’ on Amazon, in case you are searching!
If the design is what turns you on about these cute little decorations (and not the fact that they are a completely new way to adorn a door - that is our amazement and obsession!), the company also makes shelf decorations, bookcase decorations, and some stunning little side tables and phone tables with the same feminine curls and twists. Those curls and twists start to take on a Gothic flavour in their range of clocks, though, where punk-rock, Emo style crosses, and even pirate flags (!), are available.
The in-door frames may be only available in red and ‘clear-black’, but the other decorations are available in quite a number of colours, including shades of blue, green, pink, peach and yellow. They cost the same from Amazon as they do on the company’s site - however the range is much easier to search through if you simply visit the Eigengold website. Yes, you do need to be a bit of an amateur Germanologist
… while there are some pages with an automatic translation down the bottom, if you blink you’ll miss it. Despite this Deutschland-centricity, the site is very easy to navigate, and most of all, the products look fantastic! If you’ve been buying online for a while, you’ll certainly be able to guess what the buttons say. If you’re anything like me, you know your credit card number, expiry date and CCV number off by heart, and could probably use the Force to navigate your way through a checkout page!
So in short, we may feel a little bit threatened, with our place as door-accessory royalty looking perilous (Thar’s mutiny in thee ranks, sar!) … but these door decorations come highly recommended anyway!
