Doormat Out-Humours Blogger

Regular readers of the blog may not be surprised by the fact that a door mat could have a better sense of humour than me But I was!

This ‘Hi. I’m Mat.’ Doormat is very funny … or at least some people think it is. It comes from High Cotton, whose website tag is ‘Fun and Original Works of Creative, Humourous Brilliance …

To Satisfy The Easily Amused’!!!   A-ha, perhaps I am not so un-funny after all, just a bit more discerning in my humour. ‘Mmmm, overtones of sarcasm, full on the palate, aged approximately not at all, and with a slightly bitter aftertaste’!!

Outside the door mat section of the site, there are such pearls of wisdom as aprons with ‘If You Don’t Like the Food … Have More Wine’, and t-shirts with pictures of dogs being walked which state ‘My Indian Name is Walks With Poop’. Ha.  Ha.  Ha.

The door mat section is equally amusing. Yes, really. You can get door mats with ‘Beware: Dog Can’t Hold It’s Licker’, ‘I Golf, Therefore I am not her’, or ‘Well Butter My Butt and Call Me a Biscuit - Look Who’s Here!’ printed on them. There are plenty of other jewels, all available on the High Cotton website in the door mat section. There are 153 of them, and I really don’t want to sour my mojo for the rest of my blog-writing day by reading all of them. You become what you surround yourself with, you know

However, I will spit out my sour grapes for a second (sorry!), and say that there are a couple of them that made me giggle despite myself. The door mat that says

I also felt the truth of one of the many daggy, daggy dog-oriented door mats available on site, which said:

However, I’m not so sure it is really an appropriate door mat sentiment! Perhaps just pop it in with a bunch of other inane-ry in a group email.

Review websites say that the mats would be a great idea to get your visitors into a humorous state and make them smile just before you open the door. I’m not sure that I’d like to test that theory, but you’re welcome to! I’d prefer to get them into some sort of state with a nice well selected door knocker or bell, and a sleek, chic door handle. But that’s just me.
