I have a special place in my heart for our next door-related product. It is a lock after my own mind and personality - if I were some sort of door product, I would certainly be married to this lever handle! It has been hailed as having an even better design that Apple’s iPhone (nerny nerny ner ner!), and it is known as the Luce.
Great name, huh? All the best bloggers have it It is slim (sort of like me), touch-sensitive (yep), and digital (maybe not so much). It was unveiled recently by Seoul Commtech, and covered by AVING news network.

For us at Architectural Classics, there is a little in the world that is more useless than a door which you can’t put a handle on. For one thing, it is like a dog that doesn’t lick you … just soulless somehow, although very convenient! For another thing, it doesn’t pay our wages, and keep us researching and writing mad, crazy articles about new developments, designs from the stupid to the brilliant, and technological advancements in doors and door handles.
However, we’ll make an exception for the Nomad system … only because it is so striking! If you live in an open...

In the same vein as the sound sensing keyhole light, but this time not competing with any of our products on site (most importantly!), is this space-invaders inspired door mat!
We are fans of the traditional here (among other things! We are also fans of the uber-modern, for that matter), and as far as video games go, it doesn’t get more traditional than space invaders. In fact, we would hazard a guess that if those of you that have Victorian, Edwardian, Tudor or French Regency homes right now were transported into the future, your houses would be filled with Space Invaders, Reeboks and Pacman...

Back in Ought-Seven, we wrote a post about a chandelier from St Donat’s Castle, which was once owned by William Randolph Hearst, and is currently in the possession of Patte Barham, daughter of Frank Barham (once editor of the Los Angeles Tribune). We were looking for the history of this item as well as its rightful owners, which was given away from William Randolph Hearst’s collection before his company fell on hard times several decades ago. However, we won’t regale you with all of the details of that story - only thank the blogosphere for the excellent response we got!
We were...

If your house is stocked with our super-stylin’ door furniture, you won’t be forgetting to shut the door. In fact, you won’t be missing a single opportunity to run your fingers over their surfaces from smooth to sexily textured, grasping every twist and fold … allowing them to pivot on their fluid, fabulous hinges …
Ahem. Excuse me.
As we were saying, forgetting to shut the door is often the stuff of obsession. Especially if you have just left on a month-long holiday, you’ve gone to an important meeting and aren’t sure whether the dogs can reach your daughter’s...

Those traditional door knobs and locks sure look pretty, but in this age of technology, there are plenty of people that have decided that they don’t want people breaking into their house and stealing all of the technology that lies within! There are also plenty of people that have made lock picking an art form - but this is not possible with this new radio frequency identifiable door lock.
This very handy, and somewhat scary door lock, has keys that emit a specific radio frequency (from what we can deduce), which opens the door at close range. Pity if you happen to forget your keys … re-entry...

We have often lamented the woes of door-to-door religious exponents on this blog. However, we usually do it in a little more polite language than John Safran, who really, really doesn’t like having to answer the door before noon on a Saturday.
In this video he says : “I don’t remember that part in the New Testament, where Jesus says ‘Go around and annoy the s**t out of people by bashing on their door! I don’t remember in Deuteronomy 13:11, blessed is the man who goes around bashing on people’s doors at all hours of the morning, for he truly is Jesus’ little...
